Shon's Story

Lifelong commitment to service

From the disciplined halls of the United States Navy to the steadfast corridors of the Connecticut Department of Correction, to the educated hills of Naugatuck Valley Community College as a Professor of Criminal Justice and Local Government, to her historic elected position as the Registrar of Voters, Lushonda has led a life dedicated to service, integrity, and commitment to her country and community.

Community drives change by uniting diverse voices to create lasting impact through shared action and purpose.

"We deserve a better politics, a politics that focuses on results, not pandering.

A politics that helps people, not special interests."

Accountability is the cornerstone of integrity and responsibility. It entails owning one’s actions and decisions, whether positive or negative. Embracing accountability fosters trust within The Government Center and our community. Accountability requires self-awareness and courage. Accountability is not just about meeting expectations; it’s about exceeding them by being proactive in setting standards, monitoring progress, and adapting when needed.

In leadership, accountability inspires respect. As Mayor, I will hold myself accountable, because when accountability is absent, trust erodes, and dysfunction prevails. Accountability is not about perfection; it’s about consistency and commitment to improvement while remaining grounded in honesty and empathy.
